Polamalu's departure from Pittsburgh was oddly awkward, with the All-Pro hardly receiving the recognition he'd earned over the course of his decade-plus in the Steel City. His delayed enshrinement into the Steelers Hall of Honor made next to no sense, but he's ready to put that behind him, as the Rooneys have bestowed the greatest honor the franchise is capable of on him.
The Steelers front office played hardball with Polamalu towards the end of his career in Pittsburgh. Just one year after his signed a three-year extension, the Steelers told Polamalu that they were going to release him if he didn't retire. Between a rock and a hard place, Polamalu agreed to their wishes. But he claims he holds no grudges.
'For me, it's just about trying to be where I am and whether it was me going to the NFL and really living as an NFL player or going to college and living as a college athlete. I moved on from high school. I moved on from college. Now I have the blessing with the financial flexibility to just be where I am at now, and that's to be with my wife, be with my children and feel very blessed and fortunate to be here with them,' Polamalu told The Athletic.

The USC product's awkwardness with the Steelers front office has worn off, as it usually does over the course of time. Polamalu is one of the best safeties of all time, and did it all with one franchise. To this day his hair is world-renowned, and a signature of his play on the football field. Some still claim to see a curly blur running towards them to this day at Heinz Field, where Polamalu made a lasting impact and will now be enshrined among Steeler greats just like him, forever.
